Module 2 – Origination Strategy and Internationalization

Speakers

Ismael García and Juan Peña

Description

To achieve growth, a company must have a clear strategy and a strong Origination department dedicated to identifying and selecting the best projects. A crucial part of any company’s strategy is the decision to expand internationally.

In this module, we will explain how, in the field of renewable energies, the decision is made to open operations in a new country and the origination strategy for the search and development of new renewable energy production projects.

We will address the following key questions:

What are the keys to analyzing a new country?
What type of projects (technology) will be developed?
What is the country’s electricity market like?

Module 3 – Renewable Generation Technologies

Speakers

Juan Peña, Ernesto Oliver and Diego Roncal

Description

This module offers a comprehensive view of the main sources of clean energy, including wind, photovoltaic, hydroelectric, storage, renewable hydrogen, and biogas, as well as the necessary infrastructures for their implementation.

Through resource studies, illustrative schemes, and analysis of technologies and markets, participants will acquire the essential knowledge and skills to understand the technologies that promote a sustainable and efficient energy future.

Module 4 – Permitting

Speakers

Marta Aréjula and José Ángel Catalán

Description

This module offers a comprehensive overview of the procedures and requirements necessary for processing renewable energy installations. It delves into the regulatory framework, technical steps, and key legal aspects involved in the construction, legalization, and commissioning of such projects.

Topics covered include site identification, grid access, and the environmental and urban planning factors that influence project feasibility. The authorization procedures will be analyzed, from land management and grid connection to environmental assessment and urban planning regulations. The module will also explore the steps and timelines required to obtain administrative licenses and permits from relevant bodies such as AESA, energy infrastructure authorities, and others.

Attention will be given to the hybridization of technologies and the repowering of existing installations. In addition, practical examples will be provided on the management of wind, photovoltaic, and other renewable energy projects, along with best practices and success stories.

Module 5 – Engineering and Construction

Speakers

Juan Cruz Hernández and Nicolás Larumbe

Description

This module offers a comprehensive perspective on the process that transforms a renewable energy project from its preliminary design to its commissioning.

In the first part (Engineering), the focus will be on resource assessment (solar, wind, BESS, etc.), the definition of permitting and detailed engineering, and the preparation of specifications and tenders to properly contract each phase of the project.

In the second part (Construction), the module will cover operational planning (scheduling, budgeting, risk management) and execution management (coordination with suppliers, supervision, quality control, safety, etc.), culminating in project closure and handover to the Operation and Maintenance teams.

The objective is to provide an integrated view of how engineering work translates into tangible results in the field, ensuring efficiency and the successful delivery of each renewable installation.

Module 6 – Due Diligence

Speakers

Carolina Crespo and Sara Romero

Description

The Due Diligence module aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the different types of Due Diligence that can be applied to Renewable Energy projects. The purpose and utility of each type of Due Diligence will be explained, depending on the phase in which the project is: promotion, execution, or operation.

The specific aspects that are subject to analysis in each type of Due Diligence will be presented, as well as the possible consequences derived from these analyses. This includes the identification of potential risks and the formulation of strategies to mitigate them.

To offer a more detailed understanding, a practical case study will be conducted. This study will allow participants to apply the concepts learned to a real scenario, facilitating a better understanding of the processes and challenges involved in the Due Diligence of Renewable Energy projects.

Module 7 – Energy Sales and Divestment (PPA/M&A)

Speakers

Ismael García and Joaquín Dean

Description

This module covers two areas that could be addressed in separate presentations. However, in a renewable electricity generation project, all pieces and approaches are interconnected, including the two topics mentioned in the title of this module.

We will present both sections with the appropriate depth, also revealing the connection between them and with other modules.

A) Energy Sales (PPA) In this section, we will address the project’s product: the generated electricity and its destination, that is, its sale.

B) Divestment In this section, we will discuss the project’s ownership, specifically the change of ownership, that is, the divestment.

We will break down the different bidding phases and the progress until reaching the final acts of share purchase and sale, and, if applicable, the shareholder agreement. We will show the structured content of each milestone, the keys, and the reasons for the different aspects to consider.

Module 8 – Financing Structures

Speaker

Roberto Aguado and Javier Martínez

Description

The aim of this module is to provide an understanding of the financial structuring process of a project or company from a legal and financial perspective.

We will evaluate the different types of operations, stages, key points to consider, and conceptually address certain risks present in any operation of this nature.

We will transfer these theoretical concepts to a real practical case by examining due diligence, contracts, and models of a completed operation.

Module 9 – Financial Models

Speakers

Mario Oliver and Manuel Campos

Description

In this module, you will learn to use financial models as essential tools for business decision-making. We will explain what a financial model is and how it represents a company’s financial situation, projecting its future performance based on different variables and assumptions. You will learn the main uses of these models, how to evaluate the feasibility of projects, analyze the impact of strategic decisions, and plan for growth and financial sustainability.

We will cover key moments when these models are used, such as budget planning, investment evaluation, risk management, and securing financing. You will understand the main components of a financial model, including projected financial statements, cash flow analysis, and key performance metrics. Finally, we will explore the necessary inputs, such as historical data, growth assumptions, and interest rates, and you will learn how to analyze the outputs to make informed decisions, identify opportunities, and mitigate risks.

Module 10 – Safety, Health, and Insurance

Speakers

Gema Acín, Juan José Aguerrea and Víctor Baigorri

Description

This module provides a comprehensive view of occupational risk prevention, covering legal and organizational aspects to the implementation of specific practices in high-risk sectors such as construction or asset management involving height and electrical risks.

Additionally, this training places special emphasis on the importance of consolidating a preventive culture and something that today sets Grupo Enhol apart from other companies: going a step further in prevention by promoting physical, mental, and social well-being among our people.

In the second part of the module, we will discuss insurance. Here, we will review the different financing structures that exist from a legal and financial perspective, both for acquiring and developing projects. We will explore the most common ones in detail and highlight the key aspects to consider for their success.

Module 11 – Renewable Asset Management and Maintenance

Speakers

Sofía Pérez and Víctor Ruíz

Description

In this module, we will take a brief tour through all the areas that make up the management of a renewable asset: energy sales, operation, maintenance, environment, occupational risk prevention, and insurance.

Additionally, we will highlight the importance of two key roles in this management, the Asset Manager and the Site Manager.

Our goal is to emphasize the importance of managing and maintaining installations to maximize profitability while preserving the assets’ life.

Module 12 – Energy Commercialization

Speakers

Pablo Herrera, Jaume Valencia and Alex Nieto

Description

The demand for energy has historically been a vector of civilization’s progress. The utilization of energy, once solved from a technical standpoint through new generation technologies, requires a long journey to become a marketable product.

In this module, we will break down how the electrical system works from generation to consumption, how the cost of electricity supply to consumers is broken down, the operations involved in connecting clients to business, and the financial and regulatory challenges this activity faces.

We will also try to help you understand your electricity bill.

Module 13 – Global Perspective from a Generation Plant

Speakers

Ernesto Oliver San José

Description

In this final module, you’ll have the opportunity to put into practice everything you’ve learned throughout the academy by developing a final project. This is your opportunity to showcase your skills and expertise in a hands-on, real-world context.

During the final presentation, you’ll present your work to a panel of experts from Grupo Enhol, who will evaluate both the technical quality and the overall viability of your proposal. The module also emphasizes collaboration and clear communication, key competencies in any professional setting.
